Luke 2:15-17 KJV
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
As we enter this Christmas season, I believe we are entering into a season where the glory of God is being displayed to this world in greater measure. Luke 2:10, says, “… I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” I believe that word is for us today also. This is a time of great joy for all people. A time of miracles, signs and wonders. The great harvest is here! The words to describe what the Spirit of God is saying to me is “You haven’t seen anything yet.”
Before these verses, the shepherds were going about their normal routine tending their flocks and minding their own business when Angels suddenly appeared and brought great news about the birth of our Savior and Lord Jesus. They told them Luke 2:12, “…this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” That night God announced the coming of His Son to shepherds. I believe God is revealing another great move of His Spirit to His shepherds in our day also.
“And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste…”
We must do exactly what the shepherds did, “They made haste.” The Message Translation says, “Let’s get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us. They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger.”
God is in the business of revealing things to His people. This generation is no different. The shepherds said let’s go see the thing that has come to pass. We need to respond in kind in our day of salvation. God is unveiling His plan for our generation and our lives as well.
Don’t wait, quickly respond to the Word of the Lord. Make haste and receive God’s promise of greater things that are awaiting you. Jeremiah, 27:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
In verse 15, it says “And it came to pass.” if God was able to bring to pass the fulfillment of His Word concerning the coming of our Lord and Savior, then He can bring to pass what you are believing God for right now.
God has prepared a harvest; the likes of one the Church has never seen or experienced before.
Once the shepherds saw the miraculous sign, it says in Luke 2:17-18, “And when they saw it, they made known what had been told them concerning this Child, And all who heard it were astounded and marveled at what the shepherds told them.”
Once they saw Jesus, they began to tell everyone what they experienced and what the angel told them. As this year comes to a close, share with others all Jesus has done in your life.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Mara and I would like to express our thanks to all who have so graciously supported the work of the Lord.
