What Must I Do…
We are continuing our discussion on what to do between the amen in prayer and the manifestation of the promise. We first looked at the four foundational truths of healing. (Refer back to part 1.)
Today we will discuss “What Must I Do…?” From my experience in ministering and responding to questions from other believers who are standing in faith for a promise of God to manifest, many times the question is asked, “What must I do?” We see that same question asked several times in the Bible. So, let’s look at two of them.
Acts 16:30-31, “Then he brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.’”
John 6:28-29 AMP, Then they asked Him (Jesus), “What are we to do, so that we may habitually be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered, “This is the work of God: that you believe [adhere to, trust in, rely on, and have faith] in the One whom He has sent.” (Emphasis mine)
The question we will pose is, what must I do to be healed? The answer is the same. Have faith in God. For God is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23 AMPC, says: “So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.”
To be honest, just as there was nothing the jailer in Acts 16 could do to be saved except to believe, there is nothing we can do to bring the manifestation of God’s promises into our lives other than believing to receive through faith. I know that doesn’t make any sense to our natural minds. And it goes against everything we have learned growing up. It has been ingrained in us from birth that we need to work for everything. Religion is always based on our performance and self-works. I know as we stand in faith we are thinking “there must be something I can do to help bring the promises of God to pass.” But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Standing is not being idle or lazy, though. Hebrews 10:23, tells us to seize and hold fast without wavering the hope we cherish. Seize means to take possession by virtue of a warrant or legal authority. And to take something quickly and keep or hold it. Have you ever seen a hawk catch its prey? They see something they desire and they quickly swoop down on it, seizing it and holding fast to it so it won’t escape. That is how we need to be with the promises of God.
The person who is operating in the faith of God will quickly seize the promise, holding it tight without loosening up their grip on the promise no matter what they see, feel or hear. They never give up until the manifestation.
Rick Renner, a Greek scholar, interprets Hebrews 10:23 as: “And let us hold fast to our confession, tightly wrapping our arms around it and embracing it with all our might, rejecting all attempts of anyone who tries to steal it from us.…”
Faith is always active, it’s never idle. Faith is always moving forward and it enables the believer to stand even when circumstances make it seem the promise will never come to pass.
I would like to encourage everyone who is standing in faith for healing right now to keep pressing in, just as the woman with the issue of blood pressed through the crowd and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. She did not just touch His garment. She grabbed hold of it by faith. She seized it. She held fast to His garment until the miracle came. The Word says Jesus felt power flowed from Him. The Bible says she first heard then confessed that when she touches the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would be made whole. She believed it, she confessed it and she received her miracle because she seized and held fast to her confession.
I declare healing and wholeness in every area of your life. I believe the anointing of God is removing any burden and destroying any yoke of bondage of sickness and you are receiving your miracle right now in the name of Jesus.
Blessings
