Luke 13:10-13 KJV
“And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Paul wrote to the Corinthians Church in 1 Corinthians 2:5-6, that he did not come in words of man’s wisdom, but in the demonstration of the spirit and power. “Demonstrate” in Webster’s 1828 Dictionary is defined as, ”To show or prove to be certain; to prove beyond the possibility of doubt; to prove in such a manner as to reduce the contrary position to evident absurdity.” Miracles are the proof that God’s Word is true. Signs and wonders are for the purpose of validating the Word of God, and as a result, bring glory to God. Jesus said in mark 16, that these signs will follow those who believe. Miracles remove all doubt of the authenticity of God and Christ.
Psalms 50:15 says, “Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” Sickness, oppression, pain and suffering do not glorify God. Those things are not sent by God to teach us a lesson. They are robbing us from serving Him and from fulfilling our God given purpose on Earth. When we overcome by the power of God, the victory brings glory to God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
The power Paul is talking about is the same power that flooded this woman who was oppressed by satan. It is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and set Him at the right hand of God. It is the same power that resides in every believer to do the works that Jesus did. It’s the MIGHTY RESURRECTION POWER OF GOD!
This poor woman was bent over for 18 years, she wasn’t glorifying God those 18 years, but the moment she was set free, she began to glorify God.
There are many scriptures that demonstrate this:
- Luke 1:64, Zacharias speech restored: His mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, and praised God.
- Luke 5:25, Lame man healed: Immediately he rose up before them, picked up his mat, and returned to his own house, glorifying God.
- Luke 13:13, Crippled woman healed: Jesus laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight and glorified God.
- Luke 17:15, Leper healed: One of ten, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God.
- Luke 18:43, Blind man at Jericho healed: Immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God.
- John 9:38, Blind man in temple healed: He said, Lord, I believe. And he worshiped him.
- John 11:4, Lazarus’ resurrection: This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
- Acts 3:8, Lame man healed: He leaping up, stood and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
- Matthew 9:8, Paralyzed man healed: The multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
- Matthew 15:31, Many healing miracles: The multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

- Luke 13:17, Crippled woman healed: All the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.
- Luke 18:43, People who witnessed the blind man healed: All the people when they saw it, gave praise to God.
When Nicodemus went to Jesus at night he said that they knew he was from God because of the miracles He performed. it says in the Gospel of John concerning Jesus turning water into wine, “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”
Miracles, signs and wonders are for our day and they still bring glory to our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. In Luke 7:16, it says after Jesus visited the town of Nain and raised, a mother’s son who was being carried out of town to be buried, from the dead, the people rejoiced and proclaimed, “for an assurity, God had visited His people.” They recognized that God was the healer, they recognized that only God could perform such a miracle. God is still visiting His people today and right now if you need a miracle in your: body, finances, work or relationships, call on the Name of Jesus right now and receive from the very presence of God.
Blessings
