Luke 13:13 KJV “And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.’
As we continue to meditate on this scripture, one thing stands out in my mind; this story does not mention faith or that she believed. Even though it is not mentioned, it is evident it was present. We know faith was present or no miracle would have occurred. We see this in the story of the paralytic being lowered through the roof. The Word says “Jesus seeing their faith said…” Faith is not just a concept, but it causes us to act in accordance with the Word, or receive from God.
But I personally don’t think faith is the main point the Holy Spirit is making here. What we see in this story is the gifts of the Spirit in operation, and the power of the anointing to remove burdens and destroy yokes of bondage. In addition, we will discuss later who is the author of sickness and disease along with the legal rights of believers to be made whole and delivered from the bondage of sickness and disease.
In my opinion, the anointing and the Gifts of the Spirit must be in operation to obtain immediate results. The anointing is the only thing that will remove burdens and destroy yokes. Remember, the anointing is the manifest presence of God. It manifests or is operative when we act on the Word of God. In our own strength, and apart from Christ, or the anointing, we can do nothing. Many read the gospels and think Jesus did miracles by His own power, or sovereignty. But the Word of God does not say that. Let’s look at some scripture references to make my point.
- John 5:19-20 NLT: So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.
- John 12:49-50 NLT: I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.
- Luke 4:18-19 NLT: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.
- Acts 10:38 GW: You know that God anointed Jesus from Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Jesus went everywhere and did good things, such as healing everyone who was under the devil’s power. Jesus did these things because God was with him.
- John 14:12 TPT: I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do—even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father!
Jesus did not perform miracles by His own power. He was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power. It says in the Epistle of John, that we also have an unction, or anointing. We have been anointed by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said if I don’t go away, the Holy Spirit will not come. We see in Acts chapter 2, the Holy Spirit fell on each of them in the upper room and they received power from on high.
The way Jesus ministered in this story, is how the apostles ministered, and it is how we are to minister if we want immediate results. Jesus taught or preached the Word, operated in the gifts of the Spirit, and was led by the anointing to minister to this woman. Jesus laid hands on this woman in faith. And as He laid His hands on her, the power of God went through her body giving her strength to stand straight again. I don’t know any minister who can explain exactly how God performs miracles. What we know is when the anointing is present, it changes things in the seen realm.
In Isaiah 59:1 NLT, it says, “Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.” Isaiah said LISTEN. We must be willing to listen to what God is saying to the Church. So many times we miss it because we fail to listen to what the Spirit is saying. We must learn to flow with the Holy Ghost in these last days. Miracles haven’t ceased, we have ceased from hearing, believing and flowing with God. The minute the Church hears, believes and acts on the Word of God, miracles will result.
The word “saved” in Isaiah 59:1 means, “to deliver, liberate from evil, safety, welfare, prosperity, health, make whole, healing and victory.” Or you could say, God’s anointing has enough power to make you whole and live victorious, spirit, soul and body. Habakkuk 3:4, NIV says, His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from his hand, where his power was hidden. When you are touched by God’s power, the same thing will happen to you as did the woman who was bound for 18 years.
God heard the cry of this woman’s heart and delivered her by His great power. God also hears your hearts cry and is ready to deliver you also. I declare the anointing removes any burden and destroys the yoke of sickness and disease that is keeping you from living a prosperous and healthy life. Right now receive God’s healing touch in the Name of Jesus!
Blessings
