Luke 13:10-13 KJV
“And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.”
We have been looking at the miraculous healing of the woman who was bowed over for 18 years. It is important to never give up and quit. This woman had many opportunities during those 18 years to say why bother and quit. She could have become angry with God and rejected Him and His Word. But she remained faithful for those 18 years. She was faithful through all the pain, the difficulties with living life and the rejection of those around her. For everyone struggling with a long term illness, remain faithful and continue to meditate on the Word until the manifestation comes.
It says in verse 12 & 13, “…Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight…” Today let’s discuss the word immediately. God’s promises are always now. They are in the present tense and they continue into eternity. Faith is now and faith is how we access the grace or promises of God. We must never put our miracle in the future. Jesus could have told the woman to just be patient and you will be healed one day. That is why the Holy Spirit had Luke put the word “immediately” in the story. We are to expect immediate results. There are times when Christians pray and they don’t have any expectation that God will intervene on their behalf. But we see here how the touch of God, or the anointing, brings instant results.
In the Gospel of Luke, Luke uses the word immediate 12 times, 10 of the times he is speaking of physical healings. Luke was a physician and I believe as he researched the ministry of Jesus he was fascinated with the quick response that people experienced. I believe the day in which we are living is a time where immediate results will become more common.
We must remember faith is the evidence of things not seen not things seen. So we put faith in God’s word regardless of our outward condition or symptoms. Our healing is already provided for through Christ and we are not moved by what we see, feel or hear.
But let’s look at the word “immediate.” According to Webster’s, it is “…acting without the intervention of another cause or means; producing its effect by its own direct agency. Instantly; at the present time; without delay, or the intervention of time.”
This is “immediate.” There is no other cause of the miracle other than God healed, or only God could have performed a miracle. By having an immediate response, the only conclusion is; Jesus prayed, and the woman was healed as a result. It is undeniable. When Jesus laid His hands on her the anointing, or power of God, flowed into her body. She received a new spine and instantly was made whole.
God is the only healer. I am thankful and grateful for medicine, but doctors and medicine do not heal, they treat. There are people who will disagree, but I will stick to what the Word says.
According to Webster’s, “immediate” means, “producing its effect by its own direct agency.” Instead of agency, you could say power. God produces miracles, signs and wonders by His own power and authority. When God created the Heavens and the Earth, He accomplished it by His own power. God did not require intervention by another source other than His own power.
Another meaning of immediate is “exemption from second or intervening causes.” Meaning, when Jesus laid hands on the woman there was no other force or power that could overtake the power of God, stopping the anointing from restoring the woman. In other words, Satan cannot stop or hinder the flow of the anointing of God. The Bible says in Romans chapter eight, “if God be for you, who can be against you.”
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is immediate, at the present time; without delay, or the intervention of time.” Let’s begin to release our faith for immediate results in Jesus’ Name and receive God’s best in every area of our lives in 2024!
Blessings
